Is it really worth the pain?

In the introduction, Lisa shares a funny story about wearing very stylish boots that were less than comfortable. What a great analogy for life...

In life are the little decisions we make to 'feel' good worth the pain and heart ache later? Have you ever found yourself in one of these situations? What are some of the feel good things that women find ourselves falling into and what is the real 'cost'?

The sentence in this story that made me grab my highlighter was "attempting to be hip in ways that aren't cool with God will ultimately lead to hobbling around in pain.."

I think we all, at some time or another, make decisions that feel good at the moment but make us pay a price later. We do that when we give in to our children about things on which we should stand firm because it is easier at the moment. We do that when we make decisions to do something for the sole purpose of pleasing those around us - spend money, take a job, back a cause - that we would not do if we sought God's direction for our time, finances, etc. I think that is why we find ourselves overextended - time wise, financially, spiritually, etc all because we did the feel good at the moment thing.

  2. I underlined the exact same line. I thought of all my 'stress shopping.' Whenever I felt depressed or stressed, I would go shopping. Then I'd have to spend the rest of the month worrying about how we'd pay the bills or buy groceries, which ended up being credit cards. It also reminds me of relationships I got into because they were fun at the time but definitely left scars later.
